Ag Fund - Riyadh

AGFUND is a non-profit regional development institution that was established in 1980 by HRM Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud. It is supported by the leaders of the Arab Gulf States and its budget is contributed to by them. AGFUND focuses on providing sustainable human development efforts to those who need it most, such as women and children, through supporting initiatives that will affect the development process. These initiatives include improving educational and health standards, supporting poverty-combating programmes, and helping with institutional structures. AGFUND has worked in 131 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Eastern Europe, and has contributed more than US$ 235 million in collaboration with 19 national, international, and regional institutions. AGFUND has established a few Arab regional institutions, including the Arab Council for Childhood and Development, Arab Women Centre for Research and Training, Arab Network of NGOs, and the Arab Open University. In order to recognize and reward outstanding developmental and humanitarian efforts, AGFUND has set up the AGFUND International Prize for Pioneering Development Projects. This prize carries a financial reward of US$ 300,000, which is split into three categories depending on the agency nominated for the prize.
